Parent Association

Dear French American Families,

Welcome to a new year at our diverse and wonderful school community. I joined the community in 2012 and now have two children at French American. I have found that the more I engage in our community, the more I learn about our school and the more my family has been enriched by French American.

I encourage you to participate in our Community by being a Room Parent, a Grade Representative, a Co-Chair of one of the Parent Association events, a member of the Admissions Welcome Team, and/or a representative on the Annual Fund. There is a place for everyone based on your interests and time.

In 2016-17, we are introducing some changes to the structure of the Parent Association. We will merge the Lower and Middle School Parent Associations [PA], while continuing to run all our PA-sponsored events. The key objective of our PA is to build a healthy and strong parent community, and we welcome all parents to join us in this mission. This will be a transition year for our PA and I urge you to assist us and volunteer in some way.

Our new Parent Association is made up of an Executive Committee of nine parent volunteers. I am pleased to say that the nine parents making up the committee have a child in each grade from PK3 through 8th. The Executive Committee is truly representative of French American International School.

We will be changing the format of the Community Coordinator Role and monthly Association meetings.  The Community Coordinator role will now be called a Grade Representative. The Grade Representative will be the point person for your grade ensuring that your class’s needs are represented. The Representative will be required to attend some of the Executive Committee meetings.

In the new school year the Parent Association will launch Parent Community Gatherings. These PCGs will be held monthly. To accommodate everyone’s schedules the PCGs will be held some months in the morning after drop off and some in the evenings. PCGs will also be held at both the Oak and Page campuses. PCGs will consist of speaker series discussing a range of topics, and also included social gatherings. Our goal is to bring as many parents together to enjoy our community. If you are interested in learning more about the new PA or already know where you want to volunteer please contact a member of the Executive Committee.
