The gift of a bilingual education for your child
At French American International School, our youngest minds are immersed in two languages from day one. Teachers pay close attention to the linguistic and socio-emotional development of each student, warmly encouraging critical thinking, active exchange, and cooperation.
As students progress through the school, they learn to communicate in at least three languages, study mathematics in two languages, participate in a rich array of arts, athletics, and travel programs, engage in local and global service learning projects, and further develop strong critical thinking skills within a challenging, engaging curriculum.
There is no better way to see what we do than to come to an Open House, schedule a tour of campus, or attend one of our community events. Our doors are open, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
The Bilingual Advantage
The International Showcase at SFJazz
Naturally, most applicant families are highly focused on our nurturing Early Learning Program at 1155 Page Street; but it is also worthwhile to learn more about the richness of the whole journey.
We invite all applicant families interested in a deeper understanding the endgame at French American to view highlights of the International Showcase at SFJazz that took place on October 1st. SFJazz is a charismatic neighborhood venue. The Showcase is a great way to understand the fruition of your child's bilingual journey as it might play out in the final years our International High School.
In December 2016, our students and educators graced the auditorium at SFJAZZ Center with an inspiring presentation on the merits of Being Bilingual.
Head of School Melinda Bihn kicked off the evening with four takeaways: broadly, that the youngest minds are primed to be bilingual; that the incremental journey of cognition, reading, writing, and speaking takes time; that learning in two languages makes us nimbler thinkers and, finally, transforms us.
Further discover the cognitive and social advantages of learning two languages simultaneously in the Being Bilingual publication.
